Drunk driver Jamie Komoroski confronts police after crashing into golf cart

In Folly Beach, Jamie Komoroski was operating a rental Toyota at roughly 65 miles per hour when she rear-ended a golf cart, triggering the car’s airbag and producing visible smoke. After the impact, she asked onlookers about the cart’s occupant and urged officers to examine the scene, while an officer offered a blanket for the victim. Police observed her uncooperative behavior, noting she had spent an hour drinking prior to the incident and initially denied having any alcohol before admitting to a beer and a tequila pineapple cocktail.

When questioned about her level of impairment, she requested a lawyer and repeatedly asked to call her father, a request denied by officers. She continued to protest her treatment while in custody, expressing frustration over the lack of a phone call. Komoroski later pleaded guilty to reckless homicide and DUI, receiving a 25-year prison sentence, and apologized to the victim’s family.
