Earth, Wind & Fire postpones San Francisco concert after medical emergency

Earth, Wind & Fire called off their Thursday evening performance at San Francisco’s Chase Center after a band member suffered a medical emergency, posting the notice on Instagram and urging ticket holders to keep their passes for a later date. The venue reported the postponement just ten minutes before the scheduled 7:30 p.m. kickoff. The concert belongs to the “Sing a Song All Night Long” tour that includes Lionel Richie, 77, who earlier this summer was hospitalized after feeling dizzy on stage in Saint Paul, prompting the cancellation of two subsequent shows.

Richie’s health issue occurred in June during the tour’s opening night. Earth, Wind & Fire’s North American leg runs through mid-August, after which the group will begin a limited residency at The Venetian in Las Vegas in October. No further details about the injured member or the nature of the condition have been released.
