Edmunds identified a selection of 2026 SUVs across price and size segments that combine strong towing capacity with refined handling and modern tech.
Edmunds’ experts examined new-model SUVs for 2026, focusing on how well they tow while delivering smooth handling, reliable braking and sufficient power for steep grades. In the compact segment, the redesigned Toyota RAV4 hybrid reaches up to 3,500 pounds when equipped with all-wheel drive on SE trim and higher. The midsize three-row Nissan Pathfinder, with the Premium package and all-wheel drive, offers a class-leading 6,000-pound capacity.
The full-size Jeep Grand Wagoneer, fitted with a turbocharged six-cylinder and the Heavy-Duty Trailer-Tow package, can pull as much as 10,000 pounds. Luxury seekers can look to the Lincoln Navigator, whose V6 and trailer-assist features enable 8,700-pound towing, while the all-electric Cadillac Escalade IQ delivers 8,000 pounds and an EPA-estimated 460-mile range. Prices shown are for the base configurations that meet each vehicle’s top tow rating.
