Eintracht Frankfurt winger Jean-Matteo Bahoya draws Premier League attention with record speed

Jean-Matteo Bahoya, who joined Eintracht Frankfurt from Angers two and a half years ago, became the first Bundesliga player to top 37 km/h, a speed only three Premier League athletes have ever recorded. Last season he completed 2.78 dribbles per 90 minutes, outperforming the vast majority of wingers across Europe’s top five leagues, and placed in the top decile for duels won, interceptions and tackles. Arsenal and Tottenham are among the English clubs monitoring his progress, seeing his one-on-one dominance as a weapon against the league’s prevalent man-to-man marking.

Teammate Junior Dina Ebimbe described Bahoya’s burst as “unmatchable at the start” and noted his transformation after intensive gym work. Former Angers U17 coach Manu Guidicelli added that Bahoya’s unpredictability, ability to run from deep and finish chances make him a rare prospect, though consistency in goal output remains a hurdle for his next career step.
