Elon Musk seeks engineers and tradespeople for Earth and off-world AI data centers

Elon Musk used his X platform to invite engineers, plumbers, electricians and other trade specialists to join SpaceX in building the most powerful AI supercomputer clusters imaginable, both on Earth and possibly on other celestial bodies. Candidates must email their résumé and three concise examples of outstanding ability to a specified address. The push reflects SpaceX’s ambition to create a multi-planetary civilization, with Musk’s equity compensation linked to achievements like establishing a permanent Martian colony of one million people and completing off-planet data centers capable of 100 terawatts of annual compute.

The company’s IPO prospectus outlines additional long-term projects, including lunar manufacturing, Martian energy production, space tourism, point-to-point travel and asteroid mining. Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, echoed the sentiment that the AI infrastructure surge will generate many well-paid trade jobs, a view he shared with BlackRock’s Larry Fink at the World Economic Forum. While all current openings list Earth-based locations, the hiring drive signals preparation for future off-world construction efforts.
