Late Thursday evening, an engineer and his 26-year-old fiancée were returning from the Hanuman Tekri shrine, about 25 km from Guna district headquarters in Madhya Pradesh, when a group of men flagged them down near a highway petrol pump, claiming a flat tyre. The assailants seized the bike’s ignition, forced the couple into a roadside forest, and called additional accomplices. Inside the woods they beat the pair with wooden sticks, stole their cellphones and two-wheeler, and later the engineer was taken away while the woman was subjected to gang-rape.
