European Athletics Championships converge on Birmingham's Alexander Stadium
More than 1,500 elite athletes from around 50 nations will compete at Birmingham's Alexander Stadium in a week-long track and field meet.
Birmingham's Alexander Stadium, recently upgraded for the Commonwealth Games, is set to welcome over 1,500 athletes representing roughly 50 European countries for a week of competition. The venue, seating about 18,000, will operate without spectator parking, with shuttle services from the city centre and extensive rail and bus links. The championships run from 10 to 16 August, beginning with hammer, shot put and sprint heats and ending with nine finals, including the 4x400m and 4x100m relays.
British athletes such as Olympic 800m champion Keely Hodgkinson, sprinter Dina Asher-Smith and hometown star Matthew Hudson-Smith will lead a 98-strong Team GB, while international stars like pole-vault record holder Mondo Duplantis and middle-distance runner Jakob Ingebrigtsen are also slated to compete. Live coverage will be provided across one outlet television, radio and digital platforms, featuring presenters and former Olympic medallists.
