F1 chief confirms sequel to blockbuster Brad Pitt movie is under development

Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said a follow-up to the hit film F1: The Movie, starring Brad Pitt, is already being worked on, though progress depends on timing and story quality.

Stefano Domenicali, chief executive of Formula 1, revealed that work has started on a sequel to the commercially triumphant F1: The Movie, which featured Brad Pitt under the direction of Joseph Kosinski and production by Jerry Bruckheimer. Lewis Hamilton also contributed as a producer to ensure authentic racing scenes. Domenicali emphasized that the sequel will only proceed once the timing is right and the story meets the required standard, and he pledged to share more information when available.

He also used the interview to counter criticism of the sport’s 2026 regulations, stating that the new rules are achieving their goals and that fans prioritize the excitement of racing over technical details. Domenicali highlighted the rapid development seen since the season’s opening race as evidence of Formula 1’s adaptability, while remaining open to feedback from the FIA, manufacturers, teams and drivers.
