Farfus lauds Verstappen’s humility and hints at future GT showdowns in 2027

Nearly half a year after Max Verstappen’s inaugural appearance at the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring, BMW’s long-time driver Augusto Farfus commended the four-time Formula 1 champion for stepping onto the legendary Nordschleife, calling his participation a sign of humility and passion. Farfus explained that his own ROWE Racing BMW M4 GT3 Evo suffered a technical failure, which meant the anticipated head-to-head with Verstappen never unfolded.

He praised Verstappen’s speed in any car while also emphasizing the quality of GT drivers who can match him. Looking ahead, Farfus hopes Verstappen will return for the 2027 edition and possibly tackle other marquee endurance races like the 24 Hours of Spa or Le Mans. The Dutch driver has indicated he is open to such challenges if his schedule permits. Farfus also drew parallels between his own racing lifestyle and Verstappen’s, noting both are devoted racers who love the track experience.
