Fatal bus crash in Patna sparks mob violence and police post vandalism
A pedestrian died after being struck by a bus in Patna, prompting a crowd to set the vehicle and police assets on fire.
On a Friday morning in Patna, a man walking across NH-30 in the Chhoti Pahadi neighbourhood was fatally hit by a bus. The death ignited anger among locals, who set the bus ablaze along with three police vehicles and multiple motorcycles. The mob also vandalised a nearby police post, and several reporters present were allegedly assaulted.
Patna SDPO-1 Raj Kishore Singh confirmed the incident and said police actions eventually quelled the unrest. An FIR has been filed at the Traffic police station, whose senior officer Neeraj Thakur reported the property damage. Officials emphasized that the situation is now under control.
