Fatal early-morning blaze kills elderly couple in Santa Monica Tudor home

A fire early Sunday engulfed a Tudor-style house on Lincoln Boulevard in Santa Monica, killing an elderly couple in their 90s.

Santa Monica Fire Department responded to an early-morning fire at an older English Tudor-style home in the 500 block of Lincoln Boulevard. The blaze, reported shortly before 3 a.m., had the building consumed in flames when crews arrived, and two bodies were found in a first-floor bedroom. Battalion Chief James Altman confirmed the occupants, an elderly couple in their 90s, were pronounced dead at the scene and that family members have been alerted.

The pair usually lived with a caretaker, but none was present at the time. Authorities have not yet determined the fire’s origin. This is Santa Monica’s second fatal residential fire in recent months, following a June 5 incident that killed an elderly man in a different building.
