Dr. Anthony Fauci recorded a July 2022 conversation with Sam Bankman-Fried about pandemic-preparedness funding, months before the FTX collapse became public.
A diary entry spanning 1,141 pages, published by Sen. Rand Paul, shows Dr. Anthony Fauci documenting a July 2022 call with Sam Bankman-Fried, his brother Gabriel, and two associates. The discussion centered on how the billionaire’s wealth could support a partnership with the NIH to advance a prototype-pathogen approach for pandemic readiness. The meeting was set up by Sen. Joe Manchin, who introduced Bankman-Fried to Fauci.
Bankman-Fried’s pandemic-prevention nonprofit, Guarding Against Pandemics, had secured $22 million in 2021, funded by his own fortune. The diary entry does not indicate any follow-up contact or awareness of the later FTX fraud that resulted in a 25-year sentence for Bankman-Fried. Fauci also recorded numerous other calls with high-profile figures, including celebrities seeking health advice. The revelation comes as Fauci faced a Senate hearing where he invoked the Fifth Amendment over 100 times.
