FBI estimates 158 years to review hidden-room documents, Judicial Watch says

Judicial Watch reported that the FBI told a federal court it would need roughly 158 years to process more than two million pages of records found in a concealed room at its Quantico headquarters.

In a recent court filing, the FBI informed a judge that clearing the more than two million pages of documents uncovered in a concealed room at its Quantico headquarters would take approximately 158 years at the current rate of 500 pages per month. The records, discovered last year, include classified material related to the Crossfire Hurricane investigation and other cases, stored in various containers such as burn bags, safes and filing cabinets.

Judicial Watch, which filed a Freedom of Information Act request, is asking the court to permit a limited deposition to learn who found the room, who accessed it, its security classification, and how the files were managed. The organization’s president, Tom Fitton, called the timeline “stonewalling” and urged transparency about alleged political weaponization of the FBI. The bureau has resisted the discovery request, and a status conference is slated for next week.
