FBI returns to Tucson brush search after monsoon reshapes area near missing senior

In Tucson’s Catalina Foothills, a neighbor observed FBI agents back in the desert brush adjacent to the home of missing 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, a development occurring as the case nears its six-month mark. While the Pima County Sheriff’s Department denied recent task-force activity, a retired lieutenant noted that investigators might have received new, viable tips or be re-examining the site after monsoon rains altered the landscape, moving rocks and soil.

The heavy rains have been described as capable of sweeping away objects and reshaping the environment, which could reveal previously hidden evidence. Sheriff Chris Nanos has said the search remains active, with investigators sifting through “tens of thousands” of video recordings and urging the public to call tip lines. The combined reward for information now tops $1.2 million, still unclaimed. No comment was received from the FBI at the time of reporting.
