Federal Labor MP Luke Gosling taken into custody over alleged assault on NT Administrator

Luke Gosling, a federal Labor MP representing Solomon and former army commando, was arrested on Thursday following a police investigation into an alleged assault on Northern Territory Administrator David Connolly. The incident is reported to have taken place during the NT Thailand Grand Festival in Darwin on July 18, where both men participated in official proceedings. Gosling publicly rejected the claims, describing them as “ridiculous” and stating he had only congratulated the Administrator after his appointment.

The Administrator’s office confirmed an incident occurred during his official attendance but declined further comment as the matter is under investigation. Gosling remains in custody while authorities assess the case. The NT Criminal Code stipulates that assaulting the Administrator while he is carrying out his functions could result in a prison term of up to 14 years.
