Film producer Archana Kalpathi joins Tamil Nadu temple trustee selection panel

The HR&CE department of Tamil Nadu has reconstituted a state-level committee tasked with selecting non-hereditary trustees for temples that generate more than Rs 10 lakh a year, and Archana Kalpathi Aghoram has been appointed as one of its seven members. The panel, whose term begins on July 24 and lasts two years, will be led by Thavathiru Sivagnana Balaya Swamikal of Boomapuram Adheenam, with retired district and sessions judge K Ramanathan serving as deputy chair.

Kalpathi, a producer associated with AGS Entertainment, is noted for backing Vijay’s blockbusters GOAT and Bigil. The appointment comes amid other recent government-industry links, such as the designation of producer K Venkata Narayanan as a special representative of the Tamil Nadu government in Delhi. The committee’s mandate focuses on temples with annual incomes exceeding Rs 10 lakh, aiming to ensure transparent trustee selection.
