Fire and crowd surge at Barnet music festival send three to hospital

At Copthall Playing Fields in Barnet, a fire broke out near the gates of the Ghana Party in the Park music festival, leading organisers to temporarily close the entrance. The closure caused a buildup of festival-goers, and when the gates were reopened a crowd surge resulted in a crush. Metropolitan Police, firefighters, ambulance services and an air ambulance responded, forming a barrier and providing first aid, including CPR for some.

Twenty-three attendees received some form of medical help, nine were assessed by the London Ambulance Service, and three were transported to hospital with injuries deemed non-life-threatening. Citing health and safety concerns, the organisers cancelled the remainder of the event and urged those injured to recover quickly. They also denied rumours of stabbings or fatalities.
