Florida man charged with premeditated murder after UK woman vanished in Ocala
Dwain Hall, 54, is awaiting trial in Marion County on first-degree murder and kidnapping charges after the body of Sonia Exelby was discovered in a shallow grave.
According to court filings, Hall and Exelby connected on a fetish platform in 2023, discussing bondage and a desire for Hall to assist with her death. After two years of messaging, Exelby flew from England to Gainesville, Florida, on October 10, 2025, and stayed at an Airbnb she booked under her name. Hall purchased rope, a shovel and other items from a local Walmart before the encounter.
Exelby messaged a friend on Discord describing fear and confinement, then failed to return for her scheduled flight home. Investigators linked repeated debit-card charges to Hall’s business, leading to his identification. Exelby’s body was recovered on October 17 in a shallow grave with four stab wounds, and a shovel purchased by Hall was found in the burial site. Hall is being held on six felony counts and faces the possibility of the death penalty.
