Florida toddler dies after head becomes trapped in babysitter's play kitchen

On July 23, three-year-old Briella Holmes was at a babysitter’s residence in the Meadows of Boynton Beach, Palm Beach County, when she became trapped in a play kitchen set while trying to retrieve fallen toys. The babysitter had stepped out, leaving the spouse to watch the children, who later found Briella with her head stuck. The spouse freed her and administered life-saving measures until emergency responders arrived.

Briella was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but died four days later from probable positional asphyxia, according to the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner. The coroner classified the incident as an accidental death. Boynton Beach Police continue to investigate, and no charges have been filed. A GoFundMe page was created to honor Briella’s memory and support her family.
