Ford unveils low-price electric Fathom truck slated for 2027 launch

Ford announced its next-generation electric pickup, the Fathom, with a starting price just under $30,000 and deliveries expected in fall 2027.

Ford introduced the Fathom, an all-electric pickup priced at $28,350 before fees, with a destination charge raising the cost to $29,945, keeping it just below the company’s $30,000 target. Built on the new Universal EV Platform, the truck will roll out from a Louisville, Kentucky factory and is scheduled for delivery in fall 2027 after pre-order sales begin early next year. Standard equipment includes Apple Maps, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a high-resolution touchscreen, digital car key and bidirectional power capability.

Every vehicle will support Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free system, though drivers may need to pay extra to enable the advanced features slated for 2028. The Fathom seats five, offers more interior space than a Toyota RAV4, and uses a standard-range lithium-iron-phosphate battery pack, though range details have not yet been disclosed. Development was led by former Tesla executive Alan Clarke under CEO Jim Farley, drawing talent from Rivian, Tesla and Apple’s former car project.
