Former Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen to recount Artemis II voyage in new book

A new memoir, Earthrise: A Canadian Astronaut's Journey into Deep Space, will chronicle Jeremy Hansen’s participation in NASA’s Artemis II mission, the first crewed lunar venture in over five decades. Written by John Larsen after a series of in-depth interviews, the book explores Hansen’s three-decade military career, his 17-year tenure with the Canadian Space Agency, and the rigorous training that led to his historic flight.

During the 10-day mission, the crew—including NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch—tested communications via the Deep Space Network and studied human physiological responses in deep space, while viewing previously unseen lunar regions. Though the spacecraft did not land, Hansen became the first Canadian and first non-American to travel to the Moon. HarperCollinsCanada will publish the work on Oct. 27, 2026.
