Former Georgia Bulldogs tight end Norris Brown passes away at 65

Norris Brown, who starred at Laurens District High School in South Carolina and joined the University of Georgia in 1979, was a key part of the Bulldogs’ flawless 12-0 run that culminated in a Sugar Bowl win and the program’s second national championship in 1980. During that season he caught 12 passes for 253 yards and two scores, ending his collegiate tenure with 44 receptions, 832 yards and ten touchdowns. Selected 213th overall by the Minnesota Vikings in the eighth round of the 1983 NFL Draft, Brown appeared in two games before moving to the United States Football League, where he played for the New Jersey Generals and Jacksonville Bulls until his career concluded in 1985.

Former quarterback Buck Belue mourned Brown’s passing, recalling his contributions and sharing a tribute online. No cause of death was disclosed in the obituary.
