Former NBA player Brandon Clarke died from heroin and cocaine overdose

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner announced that former NBA athlete Brandon Clarke died from the effects of heroin and cocaine, deeming the incident accidental. Medical personnel discovered him unresponsive in his bedroom in a San Fernando Valley residence on May 11 and confirmed his death at 5:15 p.m. Nearby drug paraphernalia supported the conclusion of a drug-related overdose. Clarke, who spent his entire seven-year NBA career with the Memphis Grizzlies, had been arrested less than six weeks prior in Arkansas after police found 235.6 grams of kratom in his vehicle.
