Several months later, on July 31, 2026, Clenney's legal team announced a negotiated plea arrangement with prosecutors concerning the second-degree murder charge linked to Obumseli's death on April 3, 2022. The plea will be formally submitted to the court at a hearing set for August 10, pending judicial approval.
While Clenney admits to delivering the fatal wound, she asserts it was a defensive act after being attacked. She has remained in custody since her August 2022 arrest. The civil case continues against other defendants, but Clenney's portion is resolved.
