Nebraska law enforcement arrested former mixed-martial-arts star Anthony Smith on Monday night, charging him with terroristic threats, first-degree false imprisonment and domestic violence causing serious bodily injury. The 38-year-old, who retired from the UFC in 2025 following a nine-year, 24-fight career that featured a title bout against Jon Jones, is currently held in the county jail with bond yet to be determined.
Conviction on the three felonies could carry a sentence exceeding 20 years. In addition to his fighting résumé, Smith served as a television analyst for UFC broadcasts and continued commentary work after retirement. Earlier this year he returned to competition, securing a first-round submission win over Chase Sherman in a Gamebred FC bare-knuckle MMA tournament.
