Four fatalities and four injuries reported after wrong-way crash on Calgary's Stoney Trail

Around 11 p.m. on Sunday, officers were dispatched to Stoney Trail just north of 90th Avenue S.W. in Calgary after a vehicle entered the northbound lanes traveling in the opposite direction and collided with multiple cars. The impact caused three vehicles to catch fire, with firefighters encountering two of them fully engulfed and launching an aggressive fire-suppression effort while searching for survivors. Four people were pronounced dead at the scene, and four additional occupants, including two children, were transported to hospital with assorted injuries.
Calgary Police Service confirmed the wrong-way driving as the cause, and the Calgary Fire Department detailed its rapid response. Authorities have opened an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
