From Burnout to Business: Mary Roberts Launches Health Consultancy After Fitness Triumph
Mary Roberts, a 33-year-old former disaster-relief worker, turned a severe burnout episode into a weight-loss journey and is now starting a health consultancy.
Mary Roberts, 33, from Miami, spent years in high-stress roles—including Teach for America and disaster-relief missions—while her weight climbed to 335 pounds. A pandemic-era keto diet briefly cut 60 pounds, but she regained the weight and later fell seriously ill in Africa, leading to an 18-month bedridden period and eventual job loss in May 2025. With a friend’s gym pass, she joined Life Time, incorporated diverse workouts and received treatment from a functional health doctor, which helped her lose up to 10 pounds per month.
In March 2026 she completed the 60XT competition, dropping 47 pounds, shrinking her clothing size, and winning a $10,000 prize. Building on this momentum, she is preparing to launch a consultancy that blends organizational insight with health coaching.
