Gadsden City quarterback Sam Sollie signs with Auburn for upcoming junior year

Quarterback Sam Sollie of Gadsden City announced his commitment to Auburn ahead of his junior season.

Gadsden City high school quarterback Sam Sollie confirmed his pledge to Auburn University in a ceremony held at his school on August 8, prior to his junior campaign. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound junior transferred to Gadsden City before his sophomore year from Westbrook Christian and logged 1,294 yards and 13 touchdowns as a first-year starter in 2025. Rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports, he ranks as the 44th quarterback in the class and the 21st-best player in Alabama.

Sollie’s top five choices originally included Alabama, Florida, Mississippi State and Tennessee, but he ultimately selected Auburn, turning down recent offers from Kentucky, Tulane, Boston College, Arkansas and Missouri. He praised the coaching staff, facilities, and campus environment in a July interview. Gadsden City opens its 2026 season on August 21 against Oxford.

Why it matters
