Gary Glitter appears in London court on historic child-sex charges
Former pop star Paul Gadd, known as Gary Glitter, was brought before Westminster Magistrates' Court on accusations of sexual offences against a girl aged eight to eleven in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Paul Gadd, who achieved fame as Gary Glitter in the 1970s, was presented in Westminster Magistrates' Court via videolink, stating he is "extremely deaf" and unable to hear. Prosecutor Jonathan Polnay detailed that the alleged abuse of a girl, then aged eight to eleven, took place at Gadd's Kensington residence between 1978 and 1981, with the victim coming forward to police in 2025. Gadd denied the allegations and claimed he did not know the accuser when shown her photograph.
He is charged with unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 and three counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14, and remains in custody until a further hearing at the Old Bailey on September 2. He is already serving a 16-year sentence imposed in 2015 for previous sexual offences against schoolgirls and has a history of convictions for child pornography and offences abroad.
