Gaza siblings celebrate top Tawjihi scores amid war-torn schools

In Khan Younis, the Musa family celebrated the Tawjihi results of three siblings who achieved scores of 97.5, 94.6 and 94.4 percent despite living through Israel's war on Gaza. Their mother, Hind Muhanna, organized home lessons for Abdullah and Nada, who have physical disabilities, while the siblings credited both personal resolve and parental encouragement. Teachers such as Hanaa al-Sayed continued to teach mathematics in a school that also served as a shelter, providing emotional support to traumatized pupils.

The Palestinian Minister of Education, Amjad Barham, said roughly 89,000 students in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza took the exam, with an additional 2,000 examined abroad, and noted that more than 1,100 Gaza candidates were killed this year. The United Nations has warned that the vast majority of Gaza’s schools are damaged, threatening the education system’s survival.
