Georgia father convicted for supplying gun in high school massacre seeks retrial

Colin Gray, who received a 15-year prison term after prosecutors proved he gave his son the weapon used in the deadly September 4, 2024 shooting at Apalachee High School, has asked a judge to overturn his conviction. In a filing submitted Wednesday, his lawyers contend that the jury’s guilty finding contradicts the law and principles of justice. The jury had convicted Gray of second-degree murder for the deaths of students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, and of involuntary manslaughter for the killings of teachers Richard Aspinwall and Cristina Irimie.

The incident, which occurred 45 miles northeast of Atlanta, left four victims dead. Colt Gray, the shooter, is serving life without the possibility of parole. Prosecutors said the firearm and ammunition were given to Colt as a Christmas gift.
