Georgia investigates fraudulent voter registration mailings linked to Elon Musk's Ready to Register

After numerous Georgians reported receiving voter registration packets addressed to deceased pets and other obviously ineligible persons, the secretary of state's office launched an inquiry. The investigation identified the source as Ready to Register, a group linked to Elon Musk's America PAC. State officials emphasized that although a registration form alone does not place anyone on the voter list, organizations handling registrations must follow the law and avoid misleading citizens.

Violations are treated as serious offenses with severe penalties. The office also referenced a prior 2014 voter-registration drive by the New Georgia Project, noting extensive problems with that effort, but clarified that the current probe concerns only the Musk-connected mailings. Raffensperger affirmed that Georgia will enforce election laws impartially, whether the offending group leans left or right.
