German far-right commentator seeks U.S. State Department grant for new media venture

A German influencer known for far-right views and frequent interactions with Elon Musk on X has filed for U.S. State Department financing to start a new media network. The applicant, a 25-year-old self-described libertarian and supporter of the Alternative for Germany, said the proposal targets a State Department initiative that backs European entities dealing with free speech, national sovereignty and migration issues.

The intended network, named the Freedom Alliance of the West, would feature a social-media channel and collaborations with lawyers handling free-speech cases, alternative media sites and polling institutes. The request is currently under review, with no decision announced yet. The influencer previously gained attention as a climate-change skeptic and reportedly applied for U.S. political asylum last year. One outlet was unable to obtain comment from the applicant or the State Department.
