Google has announced a reduction of roughly $50 million from its ten-year IT services agreement with HCLTech, lowering the annual value from about $200 million. The cut, representing close to one-fourth of the contract, is projected to influence around 1,000 HCLTech staff, who are expected to be moved to alternative assignments. Analysts link the move to a wider industry shift toward vendor consolidation and increased reliance on AI and automation for tasks once outsourced.
HCLTech’s CEO C Vijayakumar noted that while AI-enhanced services are growing, traditional, commoditized work is being further optimized. The company maintained its FY2026-27 revenue guidance despite a modest sequential dip in constant-currency earnings. Neither Google nor HCLTech provided detailed comments on the specific changes.
