Google announced that its Nano Banana AI image generator is now built into Google Earth, offering instant visual reinterpretations of any mapped location. Teachers can ask the system to depict historic environments, with an example converting the ruins of Pompeii into a colorful Roman thoroughfare. The company also highlights niche commercial uses, such as reimagining a vacant Tokyo parcel as a vibrant shopping area or drafting a conceptual lakefront cabin made from locally sourced materials before ground is broken.
Another capability creates custom infographics tied to specific sites, demonstrated by a detailed graphic about the Statue of Liberty’s dimensions and construction. While the feature is available right away, Google cautions that the AI may produce inaccurate or imaginative elements, especially for periods lacking photographic records.
