Google Play adds Venmo as a new payment option for Android users

Google has expanded the payment roster on its Play Store to include Venmo, enabling Android users to buy apps, subscribe to services, or purchase in-app content using their Venmo balance or linked financial instruments. Customers need to navigate to the payment methods section of the Play app to connect their Venmo account before the option becomes active. After setup, Venmo can be used not only on the Play Store but also on other Google platforms such as YouTube.

The addition arrives as part of Google’s broader rollout of external billing options in the United States, United Kingdom and Europe, a change prompted by its settlement with Epic Games. While the new choice broadens payment flexibility, developers may still offer alternative processors that do not accept Venmo.
