GOP bill seeks to ban Fauci from any future federal employment

Representative Rich McCormick of Georgia introduced the STOP the SWAMP Act, a bill that would disqualify anyone who refuses to answer certain congressional inquiries or is found guilty of perjury from any future federal job. The proposal also empowers Congress to refer witnesses for criminal prosecution if they are deemed to have unlawfully concealed information.

While Fauci has denied any wrongdoing and faces no charges, Senate Committee Chairman Rand Paul indicated the panel will pursue a contempt of Congress action. The hearing also featured the release of Fauci’s pandemic diary, highlighting his role in school-closure decisions, which he previously contested. The measure reflects ongoing Republican efforts to hold the former public-health official accountable for his pandemic-era actions.
