Government reports over 1 crore homes delivered under PMAY-U scheme

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs announced that the combined PMAY-U and PMAY-U 2.0 schemes have crossed the 1.25 crore mark for sanctioned houses, with more than 1 crore finished and delivered to recipients nationwide. A notable share of these homes, amounting to 1 crore, are allocated to women either as primary owners or joint holders. During the eighth meeting of the central sanctioning and monitoring committee on August 6, officials approved 2.09 lakh additional houses for economically weaker section families across a wide range of states, including Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh.

Of the new approvals, roughly 1.42 lakh fall under the Beneficiary Led Construction component, while 67,045 are slated for Affordable Housing in Partnership projects. Cumulatively, PMAY-U 2.0 now totals 18.38 lakh sanctioned houses, encompassing BLC, AHP, Interest Subsidy Scheme, and Affordable Rental Housing categories. The meeting also recorded allocations for women, senior citizens, and beneficiaries from SC, ST and OBC groups, and indicated ongoing reviews of implementation metrics such as geo-tagging and fund utilization.
