Government says fuel switch shows no fault in Air India Dreamliner crash
India's civil aviation minister reported that tests in Seattle found no defect in the Boeing 787 fuel control switch that was examined after the June 2025 crash.
In a statement to the Rajya Sabha, civil aviation minister Murlidhar Mohol said that the fuel control switch of the Air India Boeing 787, which crashed after take-off from Ahmedabad on June 12, 2025, was examined at the original equipment manufacturer’s plant in Seattle and found to be free of defects. The inspection included a check of the switch’s locking detents, and no irregularities were detected. A separate assessment of the entire thrust control module is still ongoing at the same OEM facility.
Mohol also dismissed allegations that the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau has stalled its final report, explaining that the duration of major accident investigations cannot be predetermined. He affirmed that all plausible causes are being investigated and that the complete report will be published on the AAIB website when ready.
