Grandson of John Gotti seeks court delay after missing kidney donation deadline

Carmine Agnello, a 39-year-old who pleaded guilty to a COVID-relief loan fraud scheme, pleaded with Judge Nusrat Choudhury for a two-month postponement of his surrender after missing a self-imposed deadline to donate a kidney to his mother, Victoria Gotti. Agnello claimed the operation was cancelled at the last minute because his mother, 63, suffered a severe infection requiring extensive antibiotics. His attorney, Robert Beltrani, said Agnello remains ready to proceed once the court grants permission.

Prosecutors from the Brooklyn U.S. Attorney’s Office contend that the circumstance does not justify a delay and suggest the transplant could be performed behind bars. Victoria Gotti, former reality-TV star, had previously praised her son’s willingness to give a kidney. As of Tuesday afternoon, neither the judge nor the prosecutors had responded to the latest filing.
