Gunfire erupts near Bronx subway station, two injured as crowds flee

Around 6 p.m. on Thursday, a gunman wearing a white hoodie approached the West Farms Square-E Tremont Avenue subway station plaza in the Bronx and opened fire on a cluster of pedestrians. Video shows the shooter walking slowly before unleashing a spray of rounds, causing one man to tumble over a bench. A 20-year-old sustained a gunshot wound to the leg, while a 31-year-old was hit in the buttocks; both were transported to St. Barnabas Hospital and are reported to be stable.
Bystanders fled the scene as the assailant escaped. The NYPD confirmed the two injuries but has not announced any arrests. Authorities have not determined if the victims were random or specific targets. The incident occurred on Boston Road at East Tremont Avenue, near a local store.
