Hamas says it will hand over weapons under Trump peace plan, Israel silent

Hamas told one outlet on Friday that it has agreed to the terms of a Trump-led peace proposal that requires the group to relinquish its arms to a Palestinian governing committee and to allow Israeli forces to withdraw from Gaza gradually. The announcement came without an immediate Israeli comment, even as an Israeli political source previously said the plan did not meet Israel’s demand for complete demilitarisation of the Strip.

The Board of Peace posted that Hamas has accepted a detailed roadmap and that the National Committee for Administration of Gaza will manage the weapons storage process. Ghazi Hamad, a Hamas negotiator, said the concessions aim to protect Gaza’s residents from further killing and displacement. Despite the ceasefire in place since October, Israeli airstrikes on Thursday killed at least four civilians, including two children. The next phase will involve verification mechanisms and a coordinated pull-out of Israeli troops, as outlined by the Board’s high representative Nickolay Mladenov.
