High-quality bootleg of 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' spreads on X before removal

Early Saturday morning, an X user identified as Fredrick Bryan posted a high-quality, full-length bootleg of the upcoming Spider-Man movie "Brand New Day," which quickly amassed nearly 6 million views and over 143 000 likes before being removed later in the day. Approximately 10 000 users reshared the clip before platform moderators took it down at about 3:25 p.m. PT, and several other accounts that attempted to repost the video were also deleted.

This incident mirrors a recent leak of Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster "The Odyssey," which attracted 2.1 million views in a few hours and led Universal to issue a statement condemning the unauthorized distribution. Sony has not commented on the Spider-Man leak, while Variety sought comment. Regardless of the piracy, "Brand New Day" has already broken box-office records, earning $72 million from preview screenings, surpassing the previous record held by "Avengers: Endgame." The film stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, and Jacob Batalon.
