The historic beachfront cottage on Clearwater Beach, often called the Holdout House, finally sold after years of refusing developer offers. Public records show JRP Property Group LLC bought the 0.3-acre, four-bedroom home for $2.99 million in November 2025, with Breeze Property Group LLC listed as the seller. The buyer is associated with James R. Polacek, a Clearwater agent with Charles Rutenberg Realty.
Real-estate professional Cara Ameer notes the location’s potential for conversion into a larger oceanfront estate, condominium complex, hotel, resort or restaurant, though locals may resist such changes. The house, built in 1963 by Carl Wilkens and Mary Ackert, has recently seen $419,706 in upgrades, likely completed in 2025, and now features modern interiors and expansive Gulf views. While the exact redevelopment plan remains unknown, the sale marks the end of its status as the sole single-family residence amid surrounding high-rise condos.
