In one case, he arranged for a singer to perform Ed Sheeran’s “Hills of Aberfeldy” at a staffer’s birthday, falsely presenting the gesture as coming from a “special someone,” which made the employee feel she was not seen merely as a daughter figure and left her “scared lowkey.”
Edwards denied any sexual intent, but the committee said his conduct would appear romantic to a reasonable observer. The ten-member bipartisan panel has urged the full House to issue a censure. The congressman’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
