Houston law firm awarded $150 million to represent unaccompanied migrant children
The Trump administration plans to contract Houston-based Burke Law Group for a year-long $150 million legal services program for unaccompanied children.
A notice to be posted in the Federal Register this one outlet reveals that the administration will hire Burke Law Group, a Houston firm with ties to former officials, to provide counsel to unaccompanied migrant minors. The contract, valued at $150 million, will run for one year beginning Aug. 15. Co-founder Marcella Burkey previously served as a Trump appointee at the EPA and the Department of the Interior, while founding partner Jeffrey Hall was confirmed to the EPA late last year. The award follows the recent lapse of a nearly-100-group network contract that had gone unpaid for more than six months.
