Hurricane Tigers crowned overwhelming preseason favorite to win Region 9 title

All Region 9 football coaches agreed that Hurricane Tigers are the leading contender for the season’s regional crown, thanks to 13 returning starters and a defense that ranked among the top three in 4A last year. Jerry Cowan, in his third year, highlighted the program’s progress and depth at every position. Crimson Cliffs Mustangs, fresh off back-to-back state titles, dropped to second place after a massive turnover of 21 starters, leaving only junior quarterback Tanoai Andresen as a veteran.

Desert Hills Thunder, Pine View Panthers, Snow Canyon Warriors and Dixie Flyers each confront extensive roster changes and new coaching staffs, making their outlooks uncertain. The poll also noted close competition among Desert Hills, Pine View and Snow Canyon for the remaining top spots.
