Husband says missing Grenada mother claimed she could swim before vanishing

Cailen Waddell posted details on his website two weeks after his wife, Elizabeth Waddell, vanished while swimming off Grenada on July 22. Two jet-ski riders reported spotting her in the water at about 5:30 p.m. and said she declined their invitation to return to shore, asserting she was a good swimmer and giving a thumbs-up. Waddell, who described the swim as a one-third-mile stretch in water about 17 feet deep, said such a distance was far beyond his wife's known abilities; she had only taken a few adult lessons and preferred using flotation devices.

He highlighted that she had brought four flotation devices on the trip but used only two earlier, with none confirmed on the day she disappeared. Given these factors, Waddell believes the most likely outcome is tragic.
