Immigration judge orders Canadian woman who slapped patriotic teen to be deported
A Texas immigration judge sentenced Canadian illegal-immigrant Kaitlyn Tracey to removal after she pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor assault for slapping a teen on a New Jersey boardwalk.
During a Fourth of July weekend incident on the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk, Canadian national Kaitlyn Tracey allegedly confronted a group of teenagers and slapped a girl wearing a USA-themed tank top. Police released footage of the assault, and Tracey later pleaded guilty to a single count of simple assault, a misdemeanor, as part of a plea bargain. A Texas immigration judge ordered her deportation to Canada and sentenced her to one day in jail, which she had already completed while in an Ocean County lockup.
Her lawyer, Francis Hodgson, argued that she arrived in the United States legally, married, worked, and took responsibility for her actions. The prosecution noted that the victim’s family agreed to the plea, and the Department of Homeland Security confirmed her illegal-immigrant status at the time of the incident.
