Index Ventures secures $2 billion across three new funds after Wiz exit
Index Ventures announced a $2 billion capital raise, creating a $400 million seed fund, a $900 million venture fund and adding $700 million to its growth fund.
Index Ventures revealed a fresh infusion of $2 billion, allocated to three distinct funds: $400 million for a seed-stage fund, $900 million for a venture fund and a $700 million addition to its 2024 growth fund, lifting total capital to $3.5 billion. The firm’s fundraising pace mirrors a $2.3 billion raise in 2022 that featured an $800 million venture component. Recent portfolio highlights include an early seed investment in Wiz, now valued at roughly $3.8 billion after its $32 billion sale to Alphabet, as well as early backing of Figma, which went public last year.
Index also backs AI ventures such as Physical Intelligence, Fireworks AI and Anthropic, the latter invested when the company was valued at $183 billion. The firm has avoided the trend of dramatically enlarging fund sizes, opting instead for measured growth while delivering strong returns.
Why it matters
The fundraise expands Index Ventures' capital to back more startups, influencing tech innovation and venture markets.
